Reading, Reading and more Reading!
It's been one of those weekends where I really have lots of other stuff I should be doing but all I want to do is read.
I had a couple of surprises this weekend. I read two category romances and really enjoyed them. That hasn't happened in a long time. Probably because I don't read much category romance any more.
Another very surprising trend is that I'm buying almost NO ebooks and I used to be buying like 3-5 a week. Weird that.
Anyway my two little gems were THE MERCERNARY by Cherry Adair which has just been re-released but was originally a Harlequin Temptation. It's a sister needs brother's former partner to help her rescue brother. Brother is being tortured in evol (made up) middle eastern type country. I enjoyed it in a Shannon McKenna sort of way. You know what I mean, right?
Then Nath had mentioned reading a Harlequin Presents by author Kelly Hunter and when I was in the book store Friday I noticed a HP titled BEDDED FOR DIAMONDS. Don't be put off by the title. Or the cover. They have almost zero to do with the story. The book is fast paced clever and well done. No puny heroine and a very believable burnt out Interpol investigator. I'll definitely be looking for more Kelly Hunter books.
Somebody (TGTBTU?) did a review of the current Harlequin Historical release OUTLAW BRIDE by Jenna Kernan. Again I have to say, don't be put off by the title or the cover. This was a wonderful book about real people. While the hero and heroine are both outwardly strong and capable life has dealt them both devastating loss. Most certainly anyone who likes westerns will eat this one up. But if you like deeply emotional realistic stories this will be right up your alley too.
Great weekend for reading. Dust bunnies have unionized though and I'm going to have to send in a team of negotiaters. Swiffer anyone?

hey there :) that is great, seems like you read some good books :) Thanks for telling me there was a new Kelly Hunter out, I didn't realize. Is the hero name Tristan? By the way, I posted up a review for Snowfall at Willow Lake just for you! :)
Nath yes, Tristan it is. Good book and a quick read. I'm going trolling later looking for her other books. Oh, and I saw the review of Snowfall at Willow Lake. Not too encouraging. I've really liked some of Wiggs books so I was wondering what you thought.

I'm so glad you had a great reading weekend... wish I had, but alas, it wasn't meant to be. Though, who am I to complain? In the last week and a half I've read Ann Aguirre's Grimspace, Kay Hooper's Touching Evil, and am almost done with Gena Showalter's Catch A Mate. Good stuff... but more spread out though. I've got some more Hooper lined up as well as some Marie Ferrarella. Love her!

that's good :) i'm going to try and go buy it before they get removed out of the bookstore!! LOL :) and Kelly Hunter only have one other book which is the one I reviewed... and ugh, the cover is really ugly for this one.
And I liked Wiggs older books a lot. You might like this one, who knows... I didn't. Did you read the rest of the series though? I think it'd be helpful to do so. then you can decide whether you like Sophie or not.
Anne, Hooper's a fave of mine. I love her Bishop psy-cop unit books. I'm also intrigued by GRIMSPACE after seeing all the reviews.
Cindy, you didn't know dust bunnies could unionize? Haven't you ever notice they gather in group? Be suspicious if you do. The next thing you know they are hitting you up for better work conditions.
Nath, good luck finding the book. Although, if you have any problems, let me know. ;) As for Wiggs, I havent' read any of this series which is leaning me toward giving this book a pass. At least I don't think I have any, guess I should check my tbr tub first huh?
Wiggs' contemporary voice doesn't seem to work for me. I've never been able to put my finger on why exactly.
I have the Kernan on my Sony Reader. Now to just dig myself out of my current reading slump....
Can't wait to see what you think of the Kernan. This was a good book. GG is very fond of westerns and nabbed it from me right away.
