Thank You Whoever You Are...

I was actually cleaning up some books stacked at my bedside. I have a great shelf beneath my bedside stand where I keep the books from my tbr I feel the most likely to get read sooner rather than later.

While reorganizing my piles and sorting them into sub-genre stacks I came across SURRENDER by Pamela Clare. I have had RIDE THE FIRE on my tbb list for quite some time and I think I bought this to give me a taste of the author's writing style while I track down RIDE THE FIRE.

Anyway, you know what happened right? Not expecting anything I looked at the back blurb cracked open the cover and started reading. I'm about half way through it now and really enjoying it.

Do you think I can remember who recommended Pamela Clare? Nope. But whoever you are. Thanks! I'm definitely going to be looking for more of her books.

For the curious this book is set in the late 1750s in the raw frontier and early days of our country. Well, actually before we were a country. Think LAST OF THE MOHICANS type of story. I'm loving it, I really am.

This is one of Kristie's faves, I think. I enjoyed it, too, though. :)

Hello, Alyssa, I'm so glad you stopped by. I thought it might be Kristie, but I wasn't sure. Have you read a lot of Pamela Clare?

Nath, I know that I've had SURRENDER in my tbr for a while and honestly just picked it up by chance. I love when you get a happy surprise like that though, don't you?

No doubt, it was Kristie. I have read Surrender and a few others by Clare but Ride the Fire was my absolute favorite of hers. It's a fabulous book. Oh, I feel an urge to re-read it. You must get a copy soon if you don't already.

LOL!! Kristie here. Yep it was probably me. I LOVE Pamela Clare's books - both her RS and her historicals. I loved Surrender and Ride the Fire is in my top 5 books of All Time list so I really recommend that one too!
And good news!! She has not one but TWO books coming out this year. The first one Unlawful Contact (which I was Very Fortunate to get an ARC of - and LOVED it and her second book Untamed is out in November. She has a picture of the cover and an excerpt on her blog.

I'm late to the party, but yeah - I'm sure it was probably Kristie too. As she's already commented, she really adores Pamela's books.

*sigh* I have every single one of Clare's historicals in my TBR. I'm not kidding. My mission this year is to actually read some of them.

Zeek, Kristie it is obviously! I tried to find RIDE THE FIRE after work at the local UBS with no luck. Gotta keep digging I guess. I found two others though, so that's good.

Renee, aargh!! Now I really really want RIDE THE FIRE. I'll find it. I'm on a mission now.

Kristie, I'm already wondering if the next couple of books will be about the other MacKinnon brothers perhaps? I haven't had time to really look at everything on her website. Anyway, I owe you one. SURRENDER is great. Mwah!

Wendy, if SURRENDER is anything to go by I think you'll like her books. I'm still only half way as I as too beat to read last night, but I'm really into it.

Sula, SURRENDER is the same time period as LAST OF THE MOHICANS. The character Iain MacKinnon is very similar to Nathaniel in LotM. If that's your criteria, you'll love the book.

Surrender is one of my top 10 favorites, and I think it's because it has that Daniel Day Lewis LOTM feel. I just read an exerpt on Pamela Clare's Blog, and it looks to be very very good! I can't wait for Morgan's story.

It was Kristie - really, you can't go wrong with what she recommends. :P

All her historicals are being rereleased this year with new covers. Woot!!

I'm so glad you enjoyed this book. I haven't gotten to it yet. LOL

Misty, I ifinished SURRENDER last night and actually recommended it to my husband because of the LotM feel to it. Good book.

Ames, I guess I gotta learn to just go out and buy whatever Kristie recommends, huh?! :)

So late to this, but I had it starred to come back to. Gosh I love Google Reader!

I loved this book - so glad you liked it, too! Clare is one of those versatile authors whose books I enjoy whether they be her RS or her historicals.

Lori, late? Is nevah too late!!! *insert wild maniacal laugh* I go back and comment on stuff all the time especially when I get behind blog hopping.

Yeah, I'm definitely a Pamela Clare convert. I'd love to find RIDE THE FIRE. Even though Sula said it's at paperback swap I want to check out the UBS I have credit at first.
