New Arrival

REESE by Lori Handeland
Book One of Rock Creek Six Series

It's here! It's here! Finally the first book of the series arrived in yesterday's mail. I can finally start this series. Of course I only have five of the six books. RICO, which is book number three still hasn't arrived, but surely by the time I'm finished with REESE and SULLIVAN it will show up in my mail box. Right?

Gotta go. Gotta read.

I've never even heard of this series!!! I thought she wrote werewolf books. Are they any good? What genre are they? They look like Westerns. Are they? 'Cause I love Westerns! What are the other ones?

So many questions *g*

Kristie, I sent you an email about these books. Let me know if you didn't get it.

A few years ago Kensington had a line called "Ballad." The hook with Ballad is that they only published series - anywhere from 2 books to 6, with lots of trilogies. It eventually folded, and while I never got the reason, I suspect it was shoddy distribution. The Rock Creek Six series was selling for big bucks on eBay for a while because of this. In particular the 6th book, Cash, came out right around the time the line folded, so it was very hard to find for a lot of folks.

I adore this series, although it got mixed reviews. It follows a group of six men who fought for the Confederacy and settle in a town called Rock Creek after one of them wins the town saloon in a poker game. Reese is probably my least favorite of the bunch - so stick with it Rosie if it doesn't move you! Nate was nominated for a RITA, and is probably my favorite - but dang, I adored the gambler Cash.

Wendy, thanks for the additional information. I gave Kristie the scoop on the order and the authors in my email to her.

I'm barely 80 pages into Reese because real life keeps interrupting my reading! Thanks for the heads up about the first book.

BTW, for people who might be interested hunting up this series. I found 5 of the books for under $2 the only pricey one was NATE and that book ran me $9.99 plus shipping. I figured since I got a couple of them for $.50 it all evened out to be reasonably priced for 6 books.

Of course, I really wanted to read them too. :)

I loved this series....loved it so much that I have 2 sets of it..one to read and one to have as backup. LOL I sent the series to my younger sister last month and she in turn sent it to my older sister when she was done with them...well, big sis thinks to KEEP it since in her words "you already have a full set" I had to call her and tell her she'd better return the books once she's done reading them or I'll stop being her book pimp. LOL After a few more threats from me she decided she will send them back...good thing for her because I told her even though she's blood, I'd have hurt her. :)

Hello Mad, welcome to my little corner of the blogosphere. Thanks for stopping by.

As for the Rock Creek Six, I just finished reading Rico's book last night. I think I'm going to take a midpoint break and read something contemp before reading the next three books. I'm enjoying it so far.
