A big family, a reading addiction, and the occasional celebrity scandal are the ingredients of life that create one woman's opinion on just about everything.

Birthdays, TV, and Questions

Just a quick check in. Sunday we worked at the Secret Santa for our local school kids at Wal-Mart for four hours. GG & I had our birthday on Monday. We both had the day off so that was cool. We did a little Christmas baking but mostly just enjoyed being together.

Yesterday, the 18th was my sister's birthday. Of course throw in some work, Shmoo taking his finals this week and the major holiday that's coming up in six days and you can see life's been pretty full. Not that I imagine it's been any less for all of you.

I have TEMPTED (by Megan Hart) sitting on my desk waiting for me to write the review. I hope to have that up. Tomorrow? Maybe?

Some quick questions for you.

1. Did anyone see the BIGGEST LOSER finale last night? Didn't Julie look awesome? Those twins kicked some booty didn't they? GG predicted they would both be the winners. Of course as soon as you saw them it was pretty obvious they'd done well. Sheesh. 51% of their body fat. They are literally half the person they used to be. Julie too. Neil looks like a completely different person. I bet people he used to know don't even recognize him.

2. Okay, how about ALVIN & THE CHIPMUNKS? I think they did a good job with the chipmunks. They were so cute. Of course stupid script, but we enjoyed it. We ended up going with our boys, both girlfriends and one other of Beanie's friends. That was lots of fun. Worth seeing for cute factor and nostalgia, but if you aren't into that...wait for the DVD.

3. Have you tried some new fantastic Christmas treat? I have! One of my co-workers brought in chocolate cookies with peanut butter chips. I've had other versions of this cookie before, but these were just the right amount of chocolate and not overwhelming with the peanut butter chips. Since I sit at the end of the cubicle row she wanted to leave them on my filing cabinet. Uh, yeah...NO! Way too much temptation.

My list of Twelve Books I Can't Wait for in 2008 is up at TGTBTU or Sybil's as I refer to it. Paranormals, historicals, westerns... Huh, imagine that. Of course it starts off with TEMPTED. Yeah, yeah, I'll post up my review. Really, I will.

Take care out there. It's busy and crazy.

You Guys Rock

Thanks for your comments and bringing me up to date on what you are doing and/or reading. I've finally had a chance to get through the over 200 posts that were on my google reader. I saw lots of great Christmas pictures, recipes and saw that I'm not the only one dragging my bootie after a couple of rounds of Christmas shopping.

Our dog Emily is the last one I have to shop for... well except I found out last night that 4 more people are coming over Christmas Eve so I have a couple of things to pick up for that evening. But I have to say, now that the majority of the grunt work for Christmas is behind me I'm really getting sort of giddy. I enjoy having people over and Christmas Eve should be fun. We will have a mix of family and friends throughout the afternoon and evening. I especially love that my kids have their closest friends stop by. Beanie has had the same group of friends for 4-5 years. I scold, and lecture, and hug 'em just like my own.

Speaking of my kids, Shmoo is back together with GF #1. All seems well. So we live in the moment expecting the drama to come knocking at our door at any time.

Beanie is working tonight but before he left for work he made me commit to going to see Alvin and the Chipmunks with him tomorrow. We even roped Shmoo (the cynic in the family) into agreeing to go too. I don't have big expectations for the movie. I would just like to smile a little and rock out to the Chipmunk song. That's all. I'm already pretty happy that my sons will still go to the movies with me.

Yeah, it's Christmas, and no, this isn't a Christmas song, but it IS a song that GG and I particularly like. Besides...things like Christmas ARE better when you're together...

Synchronicity

Oh the beautiful word synchronize. I love it. I most particularly love it when I plug my oft mentioned and fabulous Treo 650 into my computer and HOT SYNC my phone with my computer. Which is shorthand for the process I use to back up and keep the information like my contacts, birthdays, anniversarys, lists, email, appointments updated on both my computer and my phone.

So imagine the horror to find half of my many, many, many contacts and ALL of my huge family's birthdays, anniversarys, and my appointments WIPED. OFF. MY. PHONE. Did you gasp in horror? I did. I even teared up. I've had this phone for almost two years and have never had a problem sync-ing my phone and computer before. Just before I completely freaked out I realized I was staring at my computer screen and all the information was still safely backed up on my PC. Hosanna, hosanna, hosanna.

Fortunately since the information was safe on my PC, I knew I'd eventually get it back on my phone. To say my heart skipped a couple of beats is an understatement. It took me almost two hours to get it put right. Not that you asked... : ) I was able to load updated software on my phone and then get everything synchronized once again. Whew! No major meltdown by Rosie during Christmas season. As Martha Stewart would say, "That's a good thing." A very good thing for GG and the boys. I was pretty beastly until I got it fixed.

So after that I think we need something to cheer us up don't you? Here's a trailer for a movie I'm anxious to see come out. I saw it advertised on TV last night and can't wait to see it.

And if you just can't get enough here's the new version of their Christmas song...
