And the Oscar goes to...
THE DEPARTED! Do you remember when we were all a buzz about this movie last fall? I did a post about it. While my family was also big fans of LITTLE MISS SUNSHINE the male contingent was very happy that THE DEPARTED one for Best Picture.
How'd you do on your ballot? I got 14 out of 24 right...which is pretty amazing since I knew zilch about the tech awards or the documentary films. We had alot of fun. Did anyone have a party? Did anyone go down to be in the bleacher seats?

No party this year. In fact, my family bowed out and went to bed early, leaving me to keep track of the winners all by myself.
I only got 10 right. But I was the household winner. DS had 5 and DD had 4. DH didn't even bother to fill his ballot out.
I really hope next year is more fun!
This is the first time I have watched in years. I don't really get into it, but I didn't hate it like a lot of people. I found it mildly entertaining. :)
I had to tape it because of the time differences and then there was some STUPID FRENCH COMMENTATOR talking over most of it and I wanted to throttle them!!!! And not that I've seen The Departed yet, but I adore Little Miss Sunshine.
Gabrielle, I remember when we lived in Japan and watched the Academy Awards we had the same problem with an announcer talking over the entire show. Very frustrating. Remember the musical numbers that always used to have? Well, we looked forward to those because they were always uninterrupted and in English.
I hope you get to see the Departed. While not to everyone's taste, it really is a noteworthy movie with great performances by the whole cast.
Jenster, I did the whole ballot thing just because of your comments. We had always talked about our choices during the show in the past but never did ballots before. We had so much fun adding that to our viewing ritual.
Jodi, I guess because it was always a big deal to my Mom and my family growing up. My mother LOVED the movies and so do we in our household. We just view the whole thing as entertainment and don't take it too seriously.
